Painting floorboards white - 2 questions.

Hi

I want to paint the floor boards in my bedroom white, questions:

1) Do i need to sand them with a floor sander first?
2) Do i need any special paint / how do i prepare the boards for painting?

Give them a sand to get rid of the rubbishy bits and then use 3 coats of oil based eggshell or satin using a sponge roller. Looks really good. Makes the room look bigger. If you have a nice colorful rug it looks really special.
