painting front door

Hi

I currently stripping old flaking paint off my front door. Nearly at the end of this tedious job.

For painting I was wondering which primer to go for ? An acrylic based one or an oil based primer ? I have used acrylic ones successfully internally but was not sure whether it is suitable for exterior work ?

Dont use acrylic outside it just wont last. You need an oil based one to adhere to the raw wood, rub down then two undercoats, gentle rub down between, then top coat of choice.
