painting interior doors

the house I moved in to has matt white doors on the first floor and all the skirting boards are matt white (upstairs and down).

I prefer gloss - for the finish and the toughness - but a friend told me that matt white (esp. for doors) is more 'modern' and that gloss for interior doors was a bit dated now - is that correct?

Have what you prefer.

I prefer gloss, because it looks 'finished' to me.

Satin can look dull.

It depends on the house and the effect you are trying to achieve.
