Painting lead flashing?

I have lead flashing under my windows and they are looking tardy and discoloured.

is it possible to paint over these with dark grey/anthracite paint? If so, what would be the best paint and what preparation would be needed before painting over the lead?

Better to treat with patination oil if not yet painted, clean surface, something like a wet brillo pad will contain any residue, wipe with damp cloth and dry. Wear gloves and wash hands after working with lead.

Lead is a "greasy" metal and very few paints stick well.
