Painting MDF

So ive just made a fatal error, ive painted the water based gloss straight onto the sanded mdf (mostly got paint on but the edges are bare)

Whats the worst that could happen? Am i going to need to resand and start again?

You've lost me now. Are you talking about the bathroom or what the decorator 'was' going to do?

If the bathroom, it's probably going to be ok because the gloss is water based - oil based would just soak into the MDF and fail to cover. It won't have given you as good a finish as priming the bare MDF but will probably adhere well enough not to cause too much of an issue.

The bathroom which is what im doing.

So can i give the gloss another coat tommorow without sanding it as i think if i sand it, it will all just peel off? Im using one coat gloss but obviously as i forgot to prime it needs another coat.

Ive asked the decorator to do the other glossing with a water based gloss and therefore to sand it down prior to application, he is ok to do this but isent planning to use a primer as it wont be down to bare wood, will this still provide a good enough finish?
