Hello
I will be repainting my living room soon and I was looking for some advice on painting over oil based satin which was used on the wood work. Obviously I would like to reduce the yellowing effect and was looking at using an acrylic based paint instead of oil but would like to know the best way to prepare the current wood work bearing in mind the oil based paint used previously.
Would the best practice be to rub the wood down with sand paper first then use a shellac primer before painting over with the acrylic paint?
Any other tips on minimising the yellowing effect?
Thanks
