Painting new wooden facia & soffit

I'm in the middle of a home extension and have given the new facia and soffit their first and second coats without priming beforehand. I have used Butinox 2 for both coats.

Is this a schoolboy error or do I have nothing major to worry about?

I think it's a product that gives the effects of wood staining.
