Painting over fire damaged walls and wood work

What sealants do people recommend for sealing a door/frame etc before decorating.

There has been a bathroom fire with just smoke damage. I have read that if it is not sealed correctly the black could bleed through.

Also if a smoke damaged wall is plastered over, will the smoke bleed through the new plaster.

Just make sure you wash the soot off first..failing that give it a coat of zinseer bin primer.

Same goes for the wall..wash the soot off first..the stuff shouldnt bleed through.
