I have a understairs cupboard which has the walls painted with synthaproof + I'd like to paint over with a grey oil based floor paint.

Is there a way of preparing the synthaproof/bitumen to stop it leaching through into the floor paint?

would a coat of pva do or is there anything better?

thanks
andrew

hi, never painted synthaproof but if it contains bitumen then the only thing that will stop it bleeding is aluminium primer. hope this helps

PVA is a definate No No!! Dont know how big an area you are looking at but shellac knotting will do it , as this will seal bitumen.
