Im constructing my bath banel out of plywood as the plastic ones look rubbish.
I will use a roller to get a smooth finish.

What paint should I use to get a nice waterproof finish

Oil based..primer, undercoat and eggshell or satin finish..IMO gloss will look cheap and nasty.

Rub down between each coat and mke sure you seal all the edges well with paint.

Have to agree...good call about the mdf

Wooden bath panels are in fact made from MDF, but they need sealing very well.

IN fact, the wooden ones are cheap enough, nip down to your local plumbing wholesaler (not a shed/B&Q/DIY place) and see how mush one is from there.
May save you a lot of work & look far better.
