Hi - have just had new skirting throughout my house and planning on painting it this weekend. Do I need to apply an undercoat to the pre-treated MDF stuff, or should I just apply gloss straight to it?

Also, a few walls have been skimmed, should I apply a coat of watered down emulsion before the full emulsion coats? I'm sure I remember applying a water/adhesive mix in the past but someone else suggesting just watered down emulsion?

Many thanks

if the skirts are white then thats primer,so you need to undercoat and gloss.

yes to the walls a mist coat should be applied.

Mist coat on the walls but DO NOT use a PVA mix. This is a big NO NO prior to emulsion painting !!
