Painting rendered stove recess

I've rendered a fireplace recess with a cement/lime/sand mix and it's now ready for painting.

It will be used for a woodburning stove (5KW).

Can I use emulsion/exterior emulsion for this or will the heat wreck it?

It should be ok..just make sure you thin it for the first coat..masonry paint might be a little more durable and wipable though

As above, but in time what ever you use it may start to yellow off a bit.
