Painting stairs and landing bannister same colour as doors

I am hoping to achieve the same colour as the oiled veneer doors on the landing on the stairs and landing bannister. Currently the bannister is painted and glossed white.

It would be a nightmare to strip and I'm pretty sure it's hardwood, so a much darker colour than the softwood doors. The doors have that wet pine look when they have been oiled.
Now I'm just after a little advice. I painted the bannister about 7 years ago. Water based undercoat and paint. However they get dirty very easily with being white. So my plan is to paint it the same color as the doors. Should be harder wearing and not get dirty as easy.

The plan is to paint them in an emulsion as close a match to the doors as I can get. Then go over the emulsion in a satin varnish. Does this seem like a reasonable idea or is it not going to work?

You can use rocktop or littlefairs titan over the paint to give it a hard shell.

Skin oil can soften waterbased paints. Is that the problem?

If dirty then use DIY grime wipes every few months to keep clean

Double coat with zinser red bin ....then an acrylic undercoat

Then go over with your emulsion in coats till finish you require is achieved

A mid or gloss sheen glaze clear coat to protect and enable a damp cloth clean

I think that's top advice
