Hi guys I’ve just picked up 4 steelies from the scrappy and dropped them off for shot blasting. I’m then going to hand paint them. I’ve been advised to wash them down with cheap thinners prior to priming and painting. Question is can I use any wood/metal primer or does it need a special primer?

A good move to get them blasted!
A quality etching primer will be much better than ordinary primer - I use rattle cans for this.
John :)

Thanks for the advice, have you used the Halfords etch primer? Struggling to find another locally and need it for tomorrow once the wheels are blasted.

Halfords Anti Rust primer (y)

I can couch for as I have done bits on my 2007 Corsa with it, and fingers crossed it hasn't come back
I am gonna do my steelies too, although I have some fancy aftermarket trims on them at the moment so might just forget about it :ROFLMAO:
