I'm in the process of converting my garage to add some more living room space. Thanks to some guidance from this forum already I've finished knocking through from the house and installing a door.

The next steps I plan to do are adding a stud partition wall to split the garage / living area. Then to plasterboard the ceiling.

When constructing the stud partition wall, is this normally anchored to the floors and walls, or also the trusses? The trusses don't look very significant, have 600mm centres and a ~7m span.

My next question is also truss based but with the plasterboarding, I wanted to counter batten the truss chords to install plasterboard, however there are two lower diagonal braces connected to the trusses (which I planned to put on top of the chords instead), there is also a centre brace on top of the chords that prevents this. Has anyone tackled a similar problem? Photos attached. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Not my area of knowledge tbh however, I crack on with things like this

I'd put a floor in that loft screwed and glued which would replace those cross straps however.
I would use wall mounted joist straps as put ceiling timbers across for plasterboard so you could leave those 2 timber straps in.
Floating floor.....

I'd also put electric cables in so they can be accessed vs trapped behind stuff so think about that.

Yeah.
Stud wall needs a couple of screws in floor and walls, ceiling ect.
Don't need much to hold it.
