Hi
We have a 7m long garage which has a truss roof, 7m long span so a join at around the 5m mark, joists spaced 600mm apart.
I am planning to build a stud wall about 3/4 of the way down to split the garage as I want to use the rear 5m as an office.
My question is, are the Trusses designed to take the weight of plasterboard right along?
I have calculated the weight of the plasterboard to be about 130KG total which includes some weight for the insulation.
I was looking to add another brace about 1/4 of the way down so a 3m width bit of timber which sits on 2.4m timbers either side that are screwed into the masonry either side so with this 'brace' and the stud wall providing extra support, would I be ok?
Garage is 3m wide by 7m long.
Thanks!
