Try a search for Wallrock Fibreliner, it's a paste the wall product that has very good covering ability. I would say it's somewhere around 1200 grade not cheap but a good product.

You can get it from some builders' merchants and online (you can even get 75 cm and 1 metre wide rolls, which are great for speed) but B & Q soick it too. (They don't keep the 1 m wide rolls though).
