Hi,

I recently decorated a room at home. The room handn’t been painted in about 8/9 years. I sanded the walls & ceiling lightly. Walls have painted up perfect however the ceiling is a problem.

I gave the ceiling a coat of pink to white dulux paint. The ceiling looked ok apart from a few patches where I had filled in some cracks. I proceeded to give it another coat & it looked very patchy after it. I’ve since painted it another 2 times in opposite directions but the result has still been basically the same.

I’ve attached some photos.
The first is after coat 3 & the second after coat 4. I’ve also taken a close up of the patches if it helps.

I’m considering putting a small bit of filler on the patches, sanding level & re painting.

Slowly losing my patience with it

You've missed some areas when re painting. Use a roller and overlap slightly to make sure you catch every bit of ceiling. Give it a couple more coats, letting each coat dry completely, and use a quality trade paint.

You need to really load the roller up and use a good quality medium pile roller. You also need to do it fairly quickly and roll from the window wall to the wall opposite. A durable flat Matt would help but from the pictures it just likes like not enough paint used and it's been messed about with too much. Load the roller up good and get it on. 5 or 10 seconds and then load the next roller.
