A Little help needed thank you. I’ve just purchased a crucial SATA 2.5”SSD DRIVE BX500, when I connect it to via a caddy and usb to the pc it cannot be seen. the pc is running windows 10. I know the caddy works as I’ve tried another hard drive and the PC sees it.
Any help appreciated thankyou

Perhaps connect to a proper SATA connector inside the box and see if BIOS can see it (that way you don't need to load an operating system if you're short on sata cables; just pull the one from the o/s drive?)

I had the same problem and never got it to run as an external hard drive no matter what cables or caddies were tried or other suggestions followed. My PC was very old so I came to the conclusion it was an age and OS thing in the end and bought a new laptop which recognised it on USB without any problem.

Maybe first go into device manger and see if it shows up as a disk drive

Connect it to a sata port directly
Go into bios and see if its there.
Could be incompatible with caddy if thats an old one- ive a very old usb docking station that wont do over 750gb and wont do ssd at all.
