PC DVD ROM

I have a CD Drive and a CD Re-Writer on my PC but would like to be able to access DVD roms for learning purposes.
What hardware is required to be added and will I need to have any of the others removed.
It looks like on my tower that there is room below my CD Re-writer for additonal hardware.

you might as well take out the CD reader and put in the DVD drive. it will read CDs too and you can probably just re-use the cables. You will get an installation CD with it.

How old is your PC and what version of Windows do you use? My DVD drive just installed itself no probs.
