peugeot catalytic converter.

Driving home last night my car suddenly went very sluggish and started juddering and the display on the dash started flashing "catalytic converter fault"
Car is a Peugeot 307 1.4 LX, 52 reg. I have very limited knowledge of cars so dont really know what to do next. Can i drive car to garage or would it be better to call someone out ?? Also,is it likely to be expensive??

It should be ok to drive it to be repaired. You've been driving it with the light on anyway so the damage if any will probably be done.

Ive just started engine and drove up and down street and it sounds ok,drives normal and no warning lights. Could it of just been some sort of blockage ???

Very unlikely. more likely to be intermittent wiring fault to a sensor, or a faulty sensor.

Took car for a long drive yesterday and wife used it today as normal for work and it seems ok again
If it were a sensor fault would this affect the way it drives?? As when the warning lights were flashing the car did become sluggish and start to splutter.
I drove for about half a mile like that just to get home then car was left on drive over night.Then as stated above when started next morning its all ok again!!
