PEX or Stainless Steel?

I'm doing a bathroom refurb in a country that doesn't use copper pipes for water... almost everything is stainless steel (mapress stainless mainly).

That said, I'm half tempted to use PEX instead. It would mean importing this (not very common here). Costs would be comparable (especially given the cost of PEX connectors at 35mm/28mm pipe diameters needed for the 1-sq.m. rainfall showerhead...

Thoughts?

Yes, they must be very wasteful to have such a large shower head.

If you import PEX pipe, where is the poor sod plumber going to get repair materials from in 5 years time when the (clearly more money than sense) owners decide to skip the bathroom in favour of the next latest fashion?
