Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me to a problem I've had recently with the hot water...

Basically, the hot water is not coming out of any of the taps. After deciding that an air-lock may be the problem, I plumbed the cold and hot taps together and let the cold water get to work clearing the pipework. This worked for a short time before the water ran cold again and then stopped. After several attempts I realised that the amount of hot water I was getting back was the same amount I had pushed through with the cold. E.g. If I tried the trick for 30secs I would then get 30secs of hot water before it cut out again.

My knowledge is pretty poor when it comes to plumbing but does anyone think theres a chance that this could mean the immersion heater is not refilling and is only heating up the water I push back through the system?

I'd appreciate ANY advice anyone can offer.

Thanks guys,

Rob

Have you checked the ball valve is working in the cold water tank

Could have become jammed shut

Have you got water in your plastic tank in the loft (the one feeding the cylinder)?

Also - 30 secs may not be long enough (I realise that this was an example). Try it for a minute or two.

Anyway, TicklyT and Goldspoon, as the op can't be bothered to reply, may I thank you for your help instead. Some people are just quite ignorant really :?

Apologies for the late response, I was on a night shift but thanks for the criticism none the less dex.

Thanks for your suggestions folks, however all seems to be normal. The tank is full, the ball valve is working nicely and the 30 second thing was just an example, I have been doing it for several mins at a time.

A bit stumped to be honest, but thank you for your suggestions

I retract my criticism then

Keep an eye on the ball valve - it may be getting stuck/frozen
