I have a gravity fed water and heating system.

The water running into my cold water storage tank (supplying the hot water via the hot water cylinder to taps and shower) is very slow, and I suspect that this is down to having an air lock in the pipework.

How can I remove this air lock?

As far as I know there isn't an air lock between cylinder and tap - it is between either the stop cock and stop tap supplying the cold water tank or between the stop tap and water tank.

I have recently drained the hot water system having fitted a new bathroom suite.

If the CWS tank is filling slowly check the nozzle in the ballcock isn't partially blocked with debris.

If the hot water flow rate is slower (than pre-modifications) check the cylinder isolation valve (on pipe leading from CWS tank to DHW cylinder) is fully open - gate valves have been known to shut but not open properly. The symptom here is good flow initially, rapidly dropping off. You may also have fitted new bath taps with a lower flow rate (Cv) than the old ones, commonly referred to as "high pressure".
