Photocell supplied with single insulated cables?

I have bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201268345787?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Strangely, it comes with 6" of cable, but only single insulation (The cable exits by the bottom). There are a lot similar, and they seem to be the same.

Replacing the cable would be a faff, as it's terminated in spade terminals.

Are they just rubbish, or am I missing something?!

I've never used a pre-wired photocell. Is the bottom threaded like a normal one for the cable gland? If so, can you not just bring your cable in as normal, trim the existing cabling and join to your cable?

That is a cheap and nasty looking photocell though. Cities stock a nice looking one with a totally clear (rather than opaque-clear) dome.

Thanks for the advice. I will sling the cheap photocell, and have ordered a Steinel Nightmatic 2000 - all cabling should be concealed and it has infinite lux adjustment.

Wish I had asked first!
