Guys

My boiler pilot light will not reignite despite me following the reignition instructions. There is a spark when I depress the ignition button, so I assume there is nothing wrong with the electrics. I have been told that it could be the thermocouple and that to replace the thermocouple is a simple/cheap DIY operation. Should I try this myself before calling in an expert?

Any advice would be appreciated. The bolier is made by ideal (not a combi).

Even if the thermocouple has gone, the pilot should light whilst you are still pressing the gas valve button, it would then go out when you try to let it go. It works this way so the thermocouple has time to heat up before you let go.
