Anyone know what is causing this discolour on my pipe joints? The elbow is worse than the straight. Its a recently soldered section of pipe. Have i used too much flux that is burnt off or perhaps too much heat? thanks

Too much heat. Rub it over with a bit of wire wool to clean any flux residue off.

Were you soldering or welding the pipe.

To much heat, and why did you not wipe clean the joint.

Also - did you apply extra solder yto the joint? If not, you've overheated to the extent that the integral ring of solder has run out too much and created weak joints.

thanks for the replies. I will try and use less heat from now on. Yes i did apply some extra solder to the joins so it has over run. Luckily no leaks so far and hopefully it will stay that way
