Pipe sizes query

Are you suggesting a 10m run of, 10mm poly is going to give a higher flow rate than the same length of 22mm copper at a given pressure?

I'm asking you, coz you're the man who knows! While a 22mm pipe on a basin tap might somehow fill the basin quicker, which one gets warm sooner? Best flow rates in the literal sense, great I've got 10 litres of cold water to wash my face in and I waited a minute for it. Best flow of hot water in the practical sense, 10 seconds after I turn the tap on I get water hot enough to comfortably wash in and there's only a litre of cold in the basin.. Which was 22mm copper and which was 10mm poly? Or is there something I've missed that makes big pipes make sense?
 
For the record..... I have 22mm from softener to unvented cylinder safety group. Then 22mm from there to bathroom. Bath fills at 25 l/min.

Have 10mm tube from cylinder to utility room. Similar linear distance in the opposite direction without the 3 metre rise from ground to bathroom.

But which one gets hot sooner, and how much cold water is in the basin by he time it happens?

A recent calc on the cost of hot water surprised me- the cost of heating he water was about the same as the cost of the water itself.. In a situation where lots of cold must be discharged before a tap comes usable warm, it's quite a waste of money/earn resources..
 
The flow rate to the utility is around 5 litres a minute. It takes less than a litre to get full temperature water there.

The reason for the 10mm pipe?
To limit the flow rate AS WELL AS the volume drawn before getting decent water.


You placed none of your now relevant information in your opening posts. Just waffle about ignorant plumbers pricing you for best flow rates (which is what most people want).

If you tell you installers you want minimum water wastage in preference to maximum flow rate, then they can accommodate you.

To remind you - MOST people we deal with want high flow rates AS WELL AS pressure. Hardly anyone mentions wastage drawing cold water through.
