When does the valve bang?

Valve would be in ch position from previous demand
At night AFTER the heating has gone off, put the power too the heating system off for 5 seconds and restore. See if valve bangs

When the heating is shut down on a night and there is no power to the Actuator, the spring will pull the valve back to the HW position, that is the default setting ( HW prority ) !.

When does the valve bang?

Pipes Clang ( don't know if it is the valve banging !) when the Boiler fires up first thing in a morning for HW !.
