Hi all,

I've been trawling the forums/interwebs but to no avail so thought I'd ask direct.

I'm building a garden office for my wife (//www.diynot.com/forums/your-projects/garden-office-studio.326128/) and have put up plasterboard throughout. Due to the structure being in the garden and the dimensional stability being questionable I don't want to skim the inside - at least not until it's had time to settle and I know how much movement I'll have to deal with.

However putting up the plasterboard was a bit of a nightmare and I now have a large number of screw heads on show plus gaps between the edge of the plasterboard and the ceiling rafters of up to 10mm. I started filling with some basic filler but thought that there had to be a better/quicker way. Jointing compound? Caulk? Carry on as I am? Jointing tape? Plasterboard sealer?

I need to be clear that I'm not skimming yet and don't need a super smooth finish but I wouldn't mind something that approximates acceptable. I guess it goes without saying that I'm an amateur!

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest joint compound and tape to cover your screws, and then a coating of plasterboard sealant. That combination will give you a cleaner look for the short term and also protect the new plasterboard from absorbing excessive moisture.
