I need to plasterboard a ceiling measuring 6m x 12m. The roof trusses are spaced at 600mm centres.

I intend to use 5/8 Tapered edge board and self adhesive jointing tape.

My question is do I need to fix noggins between the roof trusses at each point where the plasterboard joins?

Many thanks

Will the ceiling have foot traffic over it? if so to be safe I would noggin the p/boards joints as they will crack in time at 600mm centres. If its a garage or something with no foot traffic over it and not 100% important just go for the taping [ doubled]

Dave many thanks for reply. It is a garage with no foot traffic above so I will do as you suggest and double tape .......... phew thats a relief as I wasnt looking forward to noggin that lot

ensure the boards' bound edges go ACROSS the joists and stagger the boards/joins.

if the space is to be used as habitable then it may be wise to use foil-backed p.b.
