Plasterboard overlap with stairs - remediation

Good afternoon All, would you have any ideas how best to remediate this issue where the plasterboard overlaps with the stairs? Pretty poor finish visible. Images attached.

Beading or a strip of something like 'door stop' type wood, pinned/glued to the top of the cutouts.
