I have exposed brickwork in my kitchen and after discussions with the plasterer have agreed to have it platerboarded and skimmed. This makes things a lot easier for the electric work, etc and is cheaper. However two walls are external-facing and someone has advised me that if external facing walls are boarded then they will attract moisture throuhg the walls and become damp. This has not been mentioned by the plasterers I have spoken to.

Can someone with the requisite knowledge advise me as to whether this is true or not. I am going to be putting a nice fitted kitchen in along both external-facing walls and do not want problems in future. If I change the plan now I need to urgently advise the electricians to chase the cables into the brickwork and the kitchen fitter to amend the plans slightly. I would rather not do this, but I don't want to risk a damp problem at a later date.

Many thanks for any advice.

are they cavity walls MrH?

if so then the problem you talk of won't be a problem at all, unless of course you have a damp problem already?
