Hi,

When relocating electric back box, do I have to use proper plaster - the brown plaster to do the filling?

Can I use a joint compound or filler at all?

Thanks,
Gaz

joint compound or filler/ polyfiller etc. is fine (y)

Except that filler shrinks as it dries. If you're going to tile afterwards, then bondings fine. If you're going to paint or paper, then try Gypsum one coat plaster.

Nice one. thanks very much

Can I just ask what else can I use Gypsum one coat plaster on?

Can I use it for plastering corner bead?

Yes, it's basically bonding and plaster all in one. You won't get as smooth a finish as you would with multi finish, but if it's being covered afterwards its fine, and for filling round back boxes, it's great, just not that cheap. You can get it from Wickes.

Oh that's great. thanks very much for your advice! :)
