Hi,

I'm boxing in the electric meter and wires coming down a wall.

I needed to add a 4 inch strip of plywood down the wall. This butts onto a 4 inch section of wall making an 8 inch flat strip.

This needs finishing with only a skim of plaster or similar. Is this ok, and if so, how do I prepare the plywood to take plaster?

Cheers, Camerart.

Well....i've managed to skim onto ply before, after heavily PVA'ing it, but only as long as it isn't too big a piece, otherwise if it flexes at all the plaster will crack.
Can you not use a bit of plasterboard?
Failing that pva the ply, cover it with scrim tape, then skim it.

edit: hmmm...just re-read your post and it seems like to have a strip about 8" wide by 2.4m long?

A lot of scrim, lol.

Sheet of expamet, or roll of wide reinforcing coil?
Or just use plasterboard, as anyone else would.

A lot of scrim, lol.

4" wide 3/8" plywood, so no flexing.

I have the PVA also the scrim left over for a plaster board job, so all good.

Thanks.
