plastic rain water pipes changed from cast iron

Hi i have been asked to change cast iron down pipe/rainwater pipe to plastic as it is leaking but the guttering is staying as cast iron can this be done?
or do you have to change guttering to plastic if it can be done is there are a special connection to put plastic down pipe into cast iron guttering

plastic downpipe will go over c/i outlet........(.In fact I`ve seen some plastic that is made to look like cast iron )..as a young plumb you should be made to fix downpipes to concrete colums without an sds drill like I had to on a block of flats in Hastings 1972.....so sds had`nt been invented ..I`ll never forget that bastard job
