plate exchangers

hello.
could anyone tell me the symphtons of a sludge/blocked/scaled up plate exchanger? reduced dhw flow rate, dhw mode boiler overheating, erratic dhw temprature? am i right thanks. would just like to know how to diaognose these dhw issues as im starting 5 day combi fault finding course so trying to prepare myself with diaognosing these common dhw problems. tahnks

reduced dhw flow rate--mains pressure low, blocked plate exch , filter on cold inlet blocked. anything else??

I would suggest you gen up on multimeter use and ohms law etc. and let the tutor deal with boiler faults.

Some of them dont like smart Alexs.

Better to keep quiet and ask the odd question if they dont cover what you want.

I have never been on one of those but I have this feeling that they dont cover practical faults which those who repair boilers see every day.
