Please can you tell me if these photos are TRV's?

The manufacturers name is Peglers Terrier wheel head radiator valve
And the other one is a Cosmos valve - cheapo but reasonably reliable.

If you ask for a lockshield and receive a wheelhead then both you and the person serving you is being foolish, because for a domestic rad valve the only difference is in the knob.

not really softus

as I said everytime for the last twenty odd years I have asked for a rad valve or locksheild I get the valve AND a choice of heads both the "wheelhead" and the locksheild top. and I must say I have never ever called them anything else but Rad valves or Lockshields in all this time.

in the pre part L days when you could fit both ;) I would put a "wheelhead" on one and the "lockshield" on t'other.

good aint it.

That's exactly my point cm - you get a dual-purpose product, not the wrong valve for the application.

Ahhh I see what you were getting at.

sorry just have never brought a rad valve that didnt have both tops so never really given it any thought

:)

In my suppliers I ask for a "wheel-head" and a " lock-shield". That ensures that I get two identical packs with both knobs in. If I was to ask for just two wheel heads or two lockshields that would cause confusion and I would be able to re-heat my thermos on the steam coming out of the ears of the lad behind the counter.

I can do the with ours by asking for 3/4 inch olives

lmao

I like asking for obscure push-fit fittings using the name in the Hepworth book.

One day I was told that there was no such thing as a Hep2o cylinder connector. LMAO.

Chrome basin bottle traps. Nice little neat things, but their 35mm chrome pipe didn't fit into them. They would then run away and come back with a Macalpine trap which is quite frankly the " Frankenstein" of chrome traps.

[its not that simple, i am doing some coursework, part of that coursework is identifying whether these actual things are TRV's. The TRV's on my radiator look different, but these look like they might serve the same purpose??

The whole idea of plumbing courses is that AT THE SAME TIME as the college course you should be getting practical experience with an experienced person who can answer your questions and let you get your hands dirty!

Why dont you have a practical mentor ???
