Hi all.

first of all thanks in advance.

i am looking to replace a light switch in my lounge into a dimmer switch.

The current config is as follows.

I have 2 light switches in the lounge, a single and a double. The single controls the light in the lounge. The double controls the light in the lounge and also the light in my upstairs landing. The single switch is the one i would like to attach a dimmer to. I opened the switch and found 2 sets of wires into each of the terminals.

I am correct in assuming that i require a 1 gang 2 way dimmer switch?

Please help! many thanks

Hello.

Sounds about right.
//www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:lighting:two_way_lighting
for connections.

PS;;Some switches are fitted to 16mm deep 'back boxes' and these can sometimes be a tad shallow for some 'dimmer' switches to fit into correctly. (sometimes they are sold with a extension collar for this reason).
Make sure the 'dimmer' is rated correctly too. ;)
Hope this is of some help.
