I am have trouble fitting my dish washer as the waste pipe to the outside is stopping the dish washer from fitting close to the wall so it is sitting out a lot from the units and worktops can anyone advise.

Move the waste pipe or move house. Either one would solve the problem.

Its a common probem.

If waste is on brackets, take those off and fit tight to wall with builders band.

Or move waste so it doesnt go behind dishwasher but finishes to adjacent unit.

A last resort is chip off the plaster if its a short section of joints causing issue.

Compression joints are bulky, so if you have them, change for glued fittings

If the sink is close by, use an appliance trap and feed waste outlet of dishwasher to it and get ride of obstructive waste outlet pipe.
