Pocket hole jigs

When using pocket hole jigs do you have to use special screws,i know kreg do their own screws but wolfmaster jig seem to use ordinary wood screws?

I suspect you do or fear of splitting. Countersink screws would be a no no...

I have seen a video on youtube,they use drywall screws.
