polished screed / concrete floor

Hello,

I need to find some advice / someone who can lay and then polish either a screed or concrete floor in Scotland for an extension - I am really struggling to find companies and the builder says he can't do it. It's approx. 60m2 with UFH over insulation and we want the polished concrete finish so either a screed or concrete. Any suggestions?!

Why do you want such a high end finish? Car show room or something?

I didn't realise this was considered such a 'high end finish'!! It's for a residential extension as I said....

Or are you going to lay flooring on top of the concrete?
If it's the second one, there's no need to polish the concrete. You just need it finishing off as smooth as possible.

Power floated flooring is a bit of a joke really.. probably set you back around 10-15k to get it done.. its also massively time consuming and specialist.. so that said still want a car show room finish? or you putting lino on it?

Hi,

Yes, the polished finish is to be the final floor finish - no lino, tiles or carpet in sight! That's why we want it polished!

Yes, a finish like that website would be great but I thought they only did industrial / commercial applications and as I have a relatively small area they wouldn't be able to help.... I may be wrong though so will check them out.

I also need someone to pour the concrete / screed as my builder is too worried as he has never done a screed that has remained exposed before and he is worried about the tolerances of the finish required before polishing.... Someone told me it would need to be laser levelled to avoid removing too much material during the grinding process and therefore effecting the FFL - is this true and if so how difficult a tolerance is this to achieve?

I know this is an old thread but I wondered if you'd ever found a solution to this?
We are hoping to do exactly the same thing but I can't find any contractors in Scotland to grind and polish the floor. If anyone knows of one then I'd be very pleased to hear from you.
