I'm installing a polycarbonate roof on a conservatory and the glazing bars (snap-down type) have these plastic end caps which I thought would just clip in but they don't.

Anyone have any idea how they are meant to go on?

They are roughly rectangular, with a curved top edge, but are maybe 20mm deeper then the glazing bar assembly itself, and have a little metal insert which slides into the back, and which has barbed prongs projecting outwards, from the lower edge of the cap. I have no idea what they are for.

As I'm installing it today, it would be great if this sounds familiar to anyone.

By the sound of it, the barbs are designed to grip and prevent the caps from being removed once in place. Many of the plastic tap on types fall off after a while.
