Hi everyone, The other day I bled my radiators, and later on there was no hot water or heating. This then led to a loud screeching noise from the boiler (which i imediately turned off.)

From what Ive read on here and other sites it sounds like a pressure problem, However I am crap with things like this and haven't been able to solve the problem myself.

There are 3 taps underneath the box, which I have taken a picture of here:

At the moment I have switched the dial on the front panel to the off position.

if anybody could give me a step by step guide to fixing this that would be great. Our landlord is crap at fixing things like this and Im bloody freezing.

thanks.

You need to open the slotted screw valves at either end of the silver braided hose. They will probably turn 90D only.

You wll then hear water filling the system. Watch the pressure gauge whilst doing this and when it reaches just over 1 Bar turn the valves off. You may need to bleed the rads again, then check the pressure and possibly top up the system again.

will I do this while the systems on or off? I probebly sound like a right idiot, but im more used to fixing guitars than boilers!

thanks

while the systems off......about those guitars im thinking of buying a fender strat, are the cheaper mexican built versions good or should i go for the original american version, im wondering if in the future i would regret not spending the extra money.....thanks

john

From my experience the originals are always the best. I had a 1978 Fender Precision, brilliant, now got a MusicMan Stingray, had for a while now, also brilliant. I believe these were made buy someone who got fed up with the Fender quality getting lower and started up a new venture.

ok, so ive turned them the 90dg,

Unfortunately, no sound, no change :( any ideas?

i make you right...i've never had a really quality guitar ( perhaps because im not a quality player) but i've just started playing again and as im a bit older with a bit more money i think ill push the boat out and get one..ill go for an original, as you say always better........ cheers

john

oh snap! one sec!

on the strat, i have a mexican tele, and ive found while I was shopping for that, that you can find one awesome mexican in ten, if you have the money, go american, if you are looking for a deal, or you dont play regularly, or you find a really nice one, go mexican.

if you are going to buy vintage, buy pre 1965.

ITS PIMMS O'CLOCK IN LUTON!

Pressures gone up, boilers on, and radiators seem to be gurgeling! Ill give it a bit and bleed them again and reapeat. Nice one gas, you have saved me from another cold night.

Unless you have some sort of reverse angle on your pictures....

The hot and cold pipes are back to front!

Remember to bleed the pump using the on-board AAV.
