potterton 80 all works until h/w is turned on then trips

the boiler works fine until i turn on the hot water it then heats up but about a minute later it trips out the whole boiler it relights okay but just does the same again any advice would be appreciated

Sounds like an 80E with a faulty DHW demand switch!

could just be the micro switch sticking !!

If it is a Profile 80 and the HW is a gravity system, it could be that the overheat thermostat is wrongly positioned - there are 2 possible positions depending upon whether the HW is gravity or fully pumped.

Gotta be a COMBI 80.
Otherwise, why would turning on the hot water do anything within seconds???
