Having read several responses in the forum, it seems apparent that the PCB is a common problem with these boilers. 2 of my neighbours have had their PCB's replaced and the guy fitting them said it was common with these boilers. So thanks for the info, at least it gives you a good start where to look or have discussions with the service engineer.
Regarding another issue, shower water pressure. It is pitiful, and virtually a dribble. the house is 6 years old and the shower is a mixer tap type. the boiler and pump is on the same level and the cold water tank is in the loft, so I do have a head of water. But it certainly has no power. What can be done to increase the power/force? I have briefly looked at fitting an independent pump into the line (hot water) but may just go for an electric one with guaranteed power.

Any suggestions?

you need to replace the pcb the new pcb has been modified by the manufacturer and it comes with new leads and will be around £170 exc.vat. your recondition pcb is not good enough. its been a problem since it was made. if your ignition proves three times means all the sequence proves ok. so go for pcb. :)

Shafi - if you don't have a clue, don't post

A properly reconditioned pcb should be as s reliable (if not more) as the new ones

and significantly cheaper too

"if your ignition proves three times means all the sequence proves ok. so go for pcb." - it means the HT lead might be up the chute

Heard of some of the new one's going down. Theres job satisfaction out the window again.

Sorry, could you say that again, there are some here who might have missed it
