Hello,

My Potterton HE boiler has developed the following problem. As soon as it reaches the set temp on the thermostat, it cuts out. The pilot light needs to be reset, to fire it up again. No other problems with hot water just heating. Any idea's.

Cheers

If we are to have any chance of helping you then you will have to state the exact boiler model.

For a start no HE condensing boilers have a pilot light!

Tony,

It says Potterton Promax 15HE on the unit. As for pilot light, i must mean there is an inspection window where you can see the flame ignite.

Hope this helps

This is a fairly recent boiler. Is it still under the warrantee?

The most likely cause is combustion related so I cannot give you detaile DIY advice.

Has it ever been PROPERLY serviced?

A fixed price repair may be your best option. BG are about £180 usually.

Many different versions of the Promax 15HE. Does yours have the temp adjustment dial on the front, or just a single rocker switch on the bottom right?
Sounds like it may be a number of issues.

Tony, did you really just miss an opportunity for some flagrant self advertisement? :D
