Changing my emersion heater recently seems to have adversely affected my Kingfisher mf boiler. The fan can be heard running but the boiler does not start, the ignition light stays off and no heating or hot water is generated. Could I have caused any damage to the boiler by switching off at the main cut out switch, which I have done in the past without any problems.

Most likely just coincidence.
I recommend getting in a pro to repair.
These boilers often need both the gas valve and pcb replacing at the same time. Replaceing just one or the other will make the new unit fail.

Also remember that many of these mf boilers although fanned are still open flued !
