Hi

Got a Potterton KIngfisther boiler. Anyway - inherited it when I got the house. Anyway - one thing that has always puzzled me, the potterton controller, to have the heating on, I must also have the hot water on.

Is this the norm?

Otherwise, if the heating is put on without the H/W, no matter where I turn the room thermostat, I dont get the click to say the boiler will start up.

As I am soon to get a engineer out for a service wondered what your thoughts are.

Sounds like you have got a gravity hot water circuit connected to this with pumped heating.

Are there large pipe (28mm) going straight from boiler to hot water cylinder??

If this is the case then the operation you have is correct.
