We have a Potterton Lynx 2NG which is about 13 years old and has been running fine until we recently had a new bathroom fitted including rad and replacement thermostatic shower.

Now the hot water works fine but when the heating is turned on the pressure gradually rises from the 1.5 bar mark until working it's way towards the 3+ level.

I have bleed all of the rads a number of times and the system seems to be air free but as I am a novice where boilers are concerned  I am now somewhat stuck - can anyone suggest what the problem might be???

Read the FAQ's omn expansion vessels...yours is flat.

Normally have to remove the bracket holding the vessel in place at the back of the boiler to access the valve.

You will also have to replace/clean out the safety valve.

Thanks GasGuru - useful information in there. I'll give it a go tonight and let you know how I get on.

Hi Guys - tried following the guide you gave me but for some reason I cannot get any air into the chamber yet when I press the end of the valve nothing comes out so perhaps the valve has had it as well as everything else!

Now resolved to the fact that it's time to call in the professionals  - that and the missus has had enough of freezing her butt off

Thanks for the advice anyhow

Try pressing the schraeder valve when theres pressure in the boiler. if the diaphragm is split then water will come out. If not then your probably not doing it right :D

that means vessel is dead or flat
